It's Currently Time!

It's time for my favorite party of the month. Farley's Currently party. It's always so fun to see what everyone is currently up to and I always love to see what the last question will be. It's not even July and I think I'm already late to the party.

The hubby is at boy scout camp this week so I'm able to watch some trashy tv. I usually don't get to watch a lot of trashy tv. Our tv is usually on the history, discovery, or animal planet channels. It is nice to get to watch one of my guilty pleasures.
One of my favorite parts of summer is that I get to spend Mondays with my niece. She's two and half and we have so much fun together. Her imagination is really active and she loves books. We read a lot of Pete the Cat and watch the videos on youtube.
I keep saying I'm going to get back on track with healthy eating but so far I haven't been that successful. I was keeping track of my food on fitnesspal and doing pretty well. I had lost almost 10 pounds. So i'ts time to get back to it.
I have been wanting a printer for a while. I got some birthday money that I'm thinking about spending on one. But I'm not sure which one to get. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.
I had big plans of going through each room in my house and getting it organized and getting rid of things. So far I haven't done any of it. And now it's the beginning of July so I need to get on it.
My advice for blogging or creating is to be yourself. I love reading blogs where I get to know the person and see a peek into their lives whether it is their classroom or home. I try to be myself in my blog and I try to create things I use. Speaking of being yourself in blogging, I'm working on a new blog that focuses on my personal life and faith life. As soon as I get it up and going I'll let you know about it. I'm excited about this new venture!
Be sure to check out the party over at Farley's and link up.

Currently June

Hi friends! I've missed you. I've been MIA for a long time. The end of the school craziness just got to me. Between school and home, I just haven't had it in me to blog. Plus the heat. The heat kills me. It's just the beginning of June and I'm already having issues with the heat. It makes me not want to do anything. I've told Chris that when I'm pregnant I'm going to have to live in an air conditioned bathroom. :) So to ease back into blogging after this hiatus, I'm glad to join the party over at Farley's. Currently is one of my favorite parties around.

I still have a half day left of school tomorrow but my brain is already in overload thinking about next year. I've been thinking about what I want to try to get copied for the beginning of the school year. I have quite a few copies left and I don't want to lose them. I know now for sure that I'll be in kindergarten next year so I'm thinking about what I want to make over the summer. We're getting a new reading series and I've already made a list of all the sight words for the series. I was hoping it would be July before my brain started thinking non stop about next year but so far I'm already there. Chris and I have some trips planned in the next few weeks so hopefully I'll be able to do some relaxing then. My essentials for vacation are pretty self explanatory. I have to have my kindle. To me a vacation is a good book and the ocean. I try to keep my self sunscreened up while sitting on the beach and the perfect thing to wear after sitting at the pool or beach is a sundress.
Be sure to check out the party over at Farley's Oh' Boy 4th Grade blog.

Currently and what are you wearing

Since it's been so long since I've blogged, I'm catching up on some fun linky parties. I love Farley's monthly currently party. I look forward to it all month. But I'm a few days behind on the party.
My hubby and I teach a Sunday school class for young adults. I always joke that it should be called Nerds 101 because there is a lot of comic book talk. But we've been studying the book of Romans and he's been tying in the Lord of the Rings. It is pretty cool the way you can draw some biblical truths and lessons from these movies. We'll watch a clip or two each week. This has inspired us to rewatch the movies. I'm thinking about rereading the books this summer.
Last week was testing and I'm so glad it's over. It is a lot to ask little ones to do. This year is the first year the state has mandated that K-2 participate in the testing. Our county has elected for 1st and 2nd for a while, so we knew what to expect in first. I hated it for the Kinders though. It was way too much on them. I was so happy on Friday to have my room back to usual and be able to do some normal lessons.
We have 16 days of school left and there is a lot to do. I still have things I want to teach and do with the kids. Plus awards day, field day, social studies fair, and report cards one last time. I also need to pack and organize my room. I don't know why I'm listing all these things. You know what's up. You have all these things to do too.
My wanting and summer bucket list are kind of all related. I want to learn how to use a DSLR camera before Chris and I have kids. I want to be able to take good pictures. I would settle for a decent used camera. I want to get my house all organized and start sewing again. These things are related to the fact that I want Chris and I to be thinking about starting a family. I need to get our extra bedroom all cleaned up and organized first.
The second linky party I want to join is the Share Watcha Wear party at Closing the Gap in a Cute Outfit. I've been wanting to post about outfits for a while but I just wasn't sure. I wasn't sure anyone would want to see my outfits. But our guidance counselor a few weeks ago suggested I blog about my clothes and then I saw this linky party. So I figured I should join up. I got the hubby to take a couple of pictures of my outfits last week. So here they are:

Since we were testing, I went with my most comfortable and slightly stylish shoes. My chacos. I have had these shoes since I did my student teaching. So that means I've been wearing them for about 10 years now. They are black and they go with everything. I need to get them resoled but I have a hard time giving them up. Be sure to head over to Farley's for the Currently Party and Closing the Gap for the whatcha wearing.

It's Currently Spring Break!

I had every intention of posting this weekend but I was having too much celebrating Easter with my family. My sister, brother in law and niece came up on Saturday for an Easter egg hunt and then Sunday was all about family. We had a great weekend. I loved seeing my sweet girls looking for eggs.
Today was my first official day of spring break. (The weekend doesn't count.) I enjoyed doing not much of anything but watching a marathon of Real Housewives of the OC. Don't judge. It was the perfect mind numbing distraction. Tomorrow I plan on doing something. So I'm joining Farley's monthly currently party. I don't think I've ever linked up on the actual first before.
My hubby is home now so no more trashy tv. It's the opening of the Braves baseball season, so I'm indulging him. Being on spring break makes me start thinking about summer and having some time off. I still have a lot to do with my kids before the summer and I'll miss them a ton but I do enjoy having time to do things. One of the things I need to do is get our house organized. It seems like it is in a constant state of disarray. I've been working on changing my eating habits and getting back to exercise. I'm almost 5 months out from my knee surgery so the past month I've been able to get back into walking. I've lost almost 5 pounds over the past month. I need to lose some weight but my main goal is to develop some healthier habits. I want Chris and I to have better eating habits before we have kids. This past weekend, I got a little off track with all the Easter fun.
Last is my advice. I love blogging and it should be something fun. It shouldn't be anything that stresses you out. If it is stressing you out, you're doing it wrong.
Be sure to head over to Farley's party and check out everyone else's currently.

March Currently

I have been pretty MIA on this blog for the past few weeks. I'm not really sure why except I've been so tired. I get home from work and all the other things going on and I don't feel like blogging. I've been meaning to join this party since Friday but it just hasn't happened. But today is a snow day so I'm linking up!
I love watching older mystery shows like Matlock and Murder She Wrote. They aren't as violent as some of the ones on now and I love a good mystery. So on days off I usually can be found watching Matlock from 9-11. My brother in law teases my sister and I about our old people preferences for tv.
I am loving my class right now. They are doing so well and have grown so much. I've had them for a year and a half now and it just blows my mind how much progress they have made. I am going to have a hard time saying goodbye to this class at the end of the year.
I have been meaning to work on new write the room activities and new math work stations activities for a while now but just haven't had the energy for it. So I'm hoping today I can get something done.
It's March and in Tennessee that could mean a variety of things with weather. We have snow today and by Friday it's suppose to be 55 and sunny. We've had so much rain lately that I would love some sunshine. I think sunshine makes a world of a difference.
I think needing a pedicure is a given. I had such a hard time coming up with my three words for K especially the hate. I'm not a fan of ketchup. I like honey mustard and ranch on food more than ketchup.
So that's my currently for the month. Be sure to head over to Farley's blog and check out the other currently.

Currently and a facebook giveaway

I love Farley's Currentlys. They are a fun way to record what is going on at this moment in time. They are also fun to read. I love reading everyone else's currently. I'm actually not that late to the party this month since it's on the second.

I really want to clarify my thinking one and make a plea to my readers. On of our fourth grade teachers has 3 boys. The youngest has been in the hospital since the first of November. They orginally thought it was a virus attacking his brain but this past weekedn we found that it is brain cancer. He has 3 tumors on his brain. This family has been so strong these past few months. The boy is in the 6th grade and he has the most precious smile. His name is Regan and he needs so many prayers. Please pray for healing for Regan and comfort for his family. I have been so amazed at this family going through so much, yet living out the Christian life. His dad has asked me everytime I see him, how I'm doing and how my healing from surgery is. I have faith that God has great plans for Regan and that he can heal him. It has been so cool to see our community and school come together and Root for this boy. The other explanation is for my one little word. I want to be more intentional with my relationships with people and try to reconnect with some old friends. I also want to be intentional with my teaching and my planning and try to find the best ways to meet all my students' needs. I also want to be intentional with my blogging and creating. To blog about real ideas and things going on in my classroom. To also create things that I truly use and not just to create to create. Last thing for today, is I'm having a giveaway over on my facebook page. You should check it out if you haven't Yet.

December Currently

It's that time again. Time to link up with Farley for the monthly currently. Today is my third day back at work after surgery and I'm exhausted. I have gone home the past two school days and slept for at least an hour and half. I am trying to blog more but I'm taking is slow this week. Currently is the perfect way to ease into some blogging.

I wanted to explain a little more about my RAK. One of our fourth grade teachers has 3 sons who are in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The youngest son has been in the hospital for over a month now. He had some kind of virus that attacked his brain stem and he's experiencing stroke like symptoms. This past week he was moved to Atlanta for a little more intensive therapy. I'm so amazed by the school and community I live and work in. So many people are rallying together to raise money and support for this boy and his family. I've done some things for them but I would like to get some gas and food gift cards together anonymously and give to the teacher and his other two sons for traveling. If you are a praying person, please include this family in your prayers.
Our elf came to school on Monday. The kids decided on the name Jack for him. This is what he was up to today.
He took all the clips off the behavior chart and decorated the tree with them. The few kids that had to move their clips from the tree were pretty upset about it. Now to just figure out where he should go for tomorrow. Say a prayer for me. I'm without my assistant tomorrow. Normally that is no big deal, but on crutches it's difficult.
Be sure to check out the other currently posts over at Farley's.

November Currently

I have been a bad blogger. Like worse than usual blogger. It has been almost 2 weeks since I last posted. I just couldn't motivate myself to do anything last week. I didn't do my lesson plans until Sunday night and I usually get them done on Wednesdays. It was our first spell of cold weather and it was rainy and I didn't want to do anything. Plus we had our centennial celebration of our school over the weekend. I'm planning on posting about the history of my school. It's pretty amazing.  Anyway, I missed October's currently but I'm back for November. So here's my currently
I have had my surgery on my mind since I was trying to sleep last night. Today is the last day I can take most pain relievers before surgery. So I only have 10 days and I have a lot going on. We have report cards, parent conferences, a shower for one of my co workers, 2 inservice days, a library board meeting and I think that it is. In between all that I need to get my sub plans done for the 2 weeks I'm going to be out of school. I've never been out of school for this long of a time before. So that's stressing me out a little bit. I also want to get some meals premade in the freezer so Chris and I can eat while I'm out. Not that Chris can't cook but I think we'll get tired of grilled cheeses and soups. Plus it would just make me feel better to have some meals in the freezer. I should probably get the house all cleaned up.
Anyway, I'm getting a little nervous and scared about surgery and everything that goes with it. I'm trying to just give it over to God. I know that he'll take care of everything but it's hard to do.
I wanted to explain my music choices as well. My aunt gave me the Jackson 5 greatest hits right before I first started teaching. It is pretty upbeat and a great way to start the day off. I use to play quiet relaxing music but I've read that that just puts kids to sleep. So we try to get energized in the mornings. Not that they need a lot of help in that area. We also listen to a lot of Dr. Jean. She's my favorite to play and sing a long with.
So that's where I'm at this month. Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with a post all about the centennial at my school. It was a pretty cool experience. Meanwhile, be sure to check out the other posts over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade.

Currently September

Check me out! Blogging 2 days in a row. Can't believe it. And I even hope to be back later this week with a reading update. Here's an update from yesterdays post, if you downloaded my freebie you  might want to do it again. I had a couple of typos. Thankfully someone was nice enough to let me know. (check it out here.)

Here's a little bit of an explanation. I'm sure everyone thinks their husband is the best. I've only been married 2 and half months so I'm still in the honeymoon newlywed phase. I hope that I don't get out of it anytime soon. I can still smile and Chris won't be mad at me for spending money on school stuff (as long as I keep the receipt). But yesterday he made my class a poster and that's why he's my fave currently.
We were suppose to add words to it yesterday but we ran out of time. Hopefully today we'll have a chance.
Here's my TOMS that I love so much.
Well these aren't actually them but they look just like them. I can't believe how comfortable they are. I'm already thinking about another pair.
This is my B cup that I love. The art teacher (she was also our wedding photographer) gave it to me as a shower gift. I love it because it has B on it and because it helps me to drink my water.
Ok, that's enough about me. Hope you have a great day and be sure to link up with Farley if you haven't yet.

Currently

It's that time of the month again, Farley's Currently linky party. I'm so glad she posted this today. I was wanting to post but I wasn't sure what to post about and I don't have the brain power for a meaty post today.
So a Currently is perfect.
I've been married for almost 2 months and I'm loving it. I truly have the best husband. He's away this weekend with the boy scouts. He's a scoutmaster and they've gone backpacking for the weekend. This is our first time to be apart overnight since getting married. I'm already feeling a little lonely and he wouldn't even be home from work yet anyway. But I haven't gotten to talk to him or anything. Anyway, enough sap. I  borrowed The Help from the library and plan on watching that working on some units I need to finish. I can be on the computer all night and not feel the least bit guilty about it. I have been in the process of working on the second unit of my sight word packets I plan on using next year and just haven't been able to motivate myself to finish it. I also have a few ideas for some scoot games using the common core. So hopefully I'll get some of it done this weekend while Chris is gone. I also have a few craft projects to work on. My back to school must haves are glue gun, ribbon and sheet protectors. I am super excited about some projects I worked on with my glue gun yesterday in my class. I plan to show them off on Monday Made it, which I might actually get posted on Monday. Anyway, that's all I've got for you today. Hopefully I can get a math and reading post ready soon. Meanwhile, check out Farley's party

July Currently

So I seem to be incapable of keeping any kind of blog schedule. I had planned on posting math Monday yesterday but didn't get all my things together. Then I thought I'd post it today and do my currently yesterday. But I was gone from my house from 6:30 Am until almost 10 pm. I took care of my niece yesterday and then I ran home for a minute to meet Chris and we went to his sister's for dinner. We got a lot of niece time yesterday. It was great! So there is a slight possibility I'll post twice today if I get my stuff together. I'm hoping to get some creating done today. I have lots of ideas swimming around in my head. I need to go by school today. I haven't been since school was out. But I need to get stuff for tutoring. I'm starting some tutoring this week. I still need to contact the rest of the parents that expressed interest when school was out. We'll see how it goes. It might be kind of fun to try out some of my ideas on my students. I'm only tutoring students I had in my class last year and I'll have in class again next year. I'm getting so excited about my new super hero theme. Yesterday Sophie and I did a little shopping. We went to the Social Security office so I could officially change my name. I'm in the process of becoming Kerri Buckner. Then we went to Target and JoAnn's. Target had a bunch of fun stuff in the dollar section. I found a cardboard S and some stickers so Sophie and I made decorating that our project yesterday. Here are the things I found for school:

I have been wanting some of the small dustpans and brooms to make cleaning up small paper messes. Then I found these wipe off word card strips. I got enough for all my kids to have one and then some dice and cards. I needed a planner for the year so Sophie helped me pick one out. Here's a pic of her trying to help me pick. She is so much like me it is not even funny. She would say Sophie's book, KK's book, Sophie's book. It was hard to get her to let me put the ones we weren't getting back.
One last picture before I share my currently. This is Chris and Kaley. They were so stinking cute together.
I have lots of books that I love to read to my class. But this past year, we fell in love with Pete the Cat. My kids loved it and I got a copy for Sophie. She asks to read Pete Cat over and over. I read it twice to her yesterday and then she read it to me. She gets to the last page and says "all good." It's pretty funny. I had a hard time choosing my go to resource. I have several books that I like to go to but I love anything by Fountas and Pinell. Anyway, be sure to check out this party. It's lots of fun and I love Farley's new rule of three. I'm off to link up and then follow the rules. Then I need to get busy today.

June Currently

I'm linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her monthly currently party. It's the place to be to be sure to follow her button and check out the party. She has a fun new design and a giveaway going on.

Today was my first official day of summer. I spent it with this cutie pie. It's my almost 2 year old niece, Sophie. She's a hoot. We had so much fun. My sister is just returning to work this week and I'm going to get to keep Soph on Mondays unitl August. She dug out a bag of bows from her drawer in the bathroom and wanted my help putting them all in her hair. Normally she won't even wear one for very long. At point she had about 6 bows in her hair and she wanted me to put some of her hair in a pony tail. She's at the age where she's a lot of fun and you can have conversations with her. She can also cuddle with you and gives great kisses. Chris is gone this week backpacking with the boy scouts. (Well, only actually one boy scout and a couple of friends.) I've got to finish getting things in order for him to finish moving in. He started it last week and the bedroom needs some serious help before he moves his bed in and his clothes. Maybe I'll eventually post something school related. I hope to get creating some this week.

May Currently

I'm linking up with Farley for the May Currently linky party. When I started seeing everyone posting their currently, all I could think was it was May already. Check out the linky here. If you haven't ever participated in this linky you should. It's tons of fun.

Ok I better get off the computer and get some stuff done today. We had a shower last week and I still have all our presents out on the table. We have another shower tomorrow so I should probably get this stuff put away. Plus since I've been sick my house is a hot mess and there is laundry piled up. Oh the joys of being a grown up. Happy Saturday!

April Currently

So I filled this out on Sunday night but then scheduled it to post today. I love Farley and her currently parties. You need to link up and check out everyone else's currently post. They are so fun to read. I'm loving the superhero question. It's a lot of fun to think about.

Currently March

I'm linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her currently linky party. I had all the great intentions of getting ahead with some scheduled posts this weekend and it just didn't happen. So I'm trying to post here and there during the week. I just know how to make time for everything.
It was really hard to think of three words with the letter h. Come check out the party at Farley's and link up.
